Live and work in Tokyo, Japan.
AIT is a collective of six young curators and arts organisers, formed
in 2002 as a non profit organisation. We operate from an office/ lounge/
classroom space in Tokyo which transforms into different modes depending
on the event etc. If we need the use of a
white cube space we collaborate with someone who holds such a space. One
of our main initiatives is a contemporary art school which currently involved
about 150 students every year in seven different courses. We offer the
first contemporary curating course in Japan, as well as introductory audience
courses and critical reading courses. AIT also operate Tokyo's first systematic
artist in residence program from 2 small apartments. Thus far we have
hosted artists from Sweden, Korea, Costa Rica, Israel/ Palestine, German
and Australia. We sporadically curate experimental exhibitions and events,
such as AIT Hour Museum, a 'museum' that emerges for eight hours only
somewhere in the city.
