Based in Newcastle, UK.
Ele Carpenter is a curator and researcher in socially and politically
engaged art practice using a range of technologies with CRUMB at the University
of Sunderland, in partnership with Baltic. Ele has recently curated RISK:
Creative Action Political Culture at the CCA: Glasgow (25 March –
14 May 2005), and has been the Director of the A-Side Artists Film &
Video Programme at the Side Cinema, Newcastle (2002 - 2005). As an Independent
Curator she has also worked with Forma and PVA MediaLab. As Curator at
Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland (1997-2002), she programmed
over 30 exhibitions including the highly acclaimed NOTHING book and exhibition
co-curated with artist Graham Gussin.
