Planet22 is an intervention space, a simple glass box situated
above the entrance of a squatted building in the red-light district of
Geneva (22, rue de Berne). The space was founded by Solvej Dufour Andersen
and Peter Stoffel, in1999.
Perched above a doorway, between the private space of a house and the
public space of the street, Planet22 is situated on the blurred boundaries
between private, semiprivate and public activity. The interventions that
make up planet22’s program of activity propose a particular language
and reading in the context of one of Geneva’s busiest streets; they
seek to incite questionings on the visual 'culture' of this street and
create new interactions, collisions, which reflect or transform in turn
what may seem familiar.
